HEY There!

My name is Wayne Rysavy, and I am passionate about researching, designing, writing, and presenting information to captivate diverse audiences.

ABOUT ME

I am an experienced UX Researcher and Designer with 5+ years of experience in defining and creating simple and consistent workflows and interfaces across several products. I also possess over 15 years of experience in communications, public speaking, copywriting/ghostwriting, copy editing, instructional design and learning and development.

I enjoy understanding people and their perspectives, learning their needs and desires to build empathy into product design that better centers the human experience.

I've worked for local government entities and partnered with local business to conduct research, author reports, produce designs, and present findings. I earned a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Communication Studies with emphases in Technology and Interpersonal Communication. My previous collegiate work focused on digital communications, social media, and human interaction.

My Skills

User Experience Research

Experienced in user experience research and able to choose an array of methods and apply a specific method for the greatest need. Adept in all phases of design thinking and research. Conducted focus groups, interviews, listening sessions, A/B testing, usability testing, and surveys in previous roles.

Mixed Methods

Quantitative and qualitative methods lend value to research projects, each with their benefits and drawbacks. With my academic background, I am able to identify key objects that align with the scope of the research project to choose the best method(s) to understand, ideate, decide, prototype, and test products and processes.

Empathetic Communicator

With 12 years of teaching experience and over 10 mid- to large- scale facilitations in prior roles, I enjoy leading discussions, facilitating brainstorms and design thinking, encouraging diverse perspectives, and mediating conflicts and pain points to encourage empathy and identify opportunities.

Clear Analysis + Reports

Tailoring research findings to stakeholders while thoughtfully representing the sentiments, emotions, and experiences of (co-)participants is vital in the work I do. I strive to provide clear analysis directly related to each project's objectives while also clarifying important insights that relate to collective experiences with a process or product.
